نبذة مختصرة
Herein, we describe the case of a 54-year-old woman who presented with the chief complaint of right breast hemorrhage. A lump on her right breast first became visible in January 2008. The patient visited the hospital because of an increase in size of the lump. Core needle biopsy revealed a solid tubular carcinoma. Breast ultrasonography showed a tumor that involved the whole right breast, which was difficult to measure. We also detected metastasis in the right axillary lymph node and right supraclavicular lymph node. A systematic search revealed bone metastases. The patient was finally diagnosed as having T4bN3M1, stage IV estrogen receptor (ER)-positive, progesterone receptor (PgR)-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2( HER2) score 3 breast cancer. We administered tegafur-uraci(l UFT)( 400 mg/body) and letrozole (2.5 mg) postoperatively for 4 years, resulting in the disappearance of metastasis without recurrence. Generally, various studies have shown that treatments are ineffective once lymph node metastasis and other organ metastasis occur. Indeed, it is difficult to control metastasis and recurrence, and maintenance of long-term stable disease (SD) is rare. This case report is significant because administering UFT plus letrozole for this indication is rare.
