A fasting venous blood sample (50 cc) will be collected, maintained on ice and transported to the Mammen Laboratory, which is located on the campus of UT Southwestern. Both serum and plasma will be isolated and aliquoted for storage and immediately frozen and stored until use and will not undergo any freeze-thaw cycles

Patterns of late gadolinium enhancement and T1 and T2 mapping consistent with myocarditis on a post-hospitalization cardiac magnetic resonance imaging examination

This includes categorically abnormal structural, mechanical functional, vascular, and metabolic using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging

Presence of cardiac autoantibodies and defects within the immune system as detected by Whole Exome Sequencing making an individual susceptible to subacute cardiac injury during COVID-19 infection

Correlation of FDG-PET/CT images with EMB results (presence of myocardial inflammation, fibrosis) in patients with clinical suspicion of MC.

Correlation of FDG-PET/CT images with MRI (EGE, LGE, edema) and echo (scar, function left and right ventricles) results assessed at baseline.

Correlation of FDG-PET/CT images with MRI (EGE, LGE, edema) and echo (scar, function left and right ventricles) results assessed after 3 months.

Correlation of FDG-PET/CT images with the concentration of biomarkers of fibrosis and myocardial necrosis (troponin, N-terminal-pro Brain Natriuretic Peptide (NTproBNP), C-reactive protein (CRP), Suppression of Tumorigenicity 2 (ST2), Galectin-3) evaluated at baseline and after 3 months.

Correlation of FDG-PET/CT images with the presence and concentration of anti-heart autoantibodies evaluated at baseline and after 3 months.

External requests for study data will be granted, however, any information that is shared will be blinded to any identifying participant information.
