Together with Australian endemic species D. aquatica, D. aurantiaca, D. barrettorum, D. cucullata, D. finlaysoniana, D. fragrans, D. glabriscapa, D. hartmeyerorum, D. nana, D. serpens it makes up the section Arachnopus.
