It occurs in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Kruger National Park, Limpopo Province, Mozambique and the southern part of Zimbabwe.It is one of some 195 species of Zanthoxylum, which have a worldwide distribution in warm, temperate and subtropical regions.
