Abstract

OBJECTIVE

To study analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of bornyl acetate, the main ingredient of Amomum villosum volatile oil.

METHODS

The analgesic effects were tested by hot-plate and writhing reaction method, the ear swelling caused by dimethylbenzene in mice.

RESULTS

Bornyl acetate could restrain writhing reaction caused by acetic acid glacial, lighten the pain caused by hot-plate. It could also suppress ear swelling caused by dimethylbenzene in mice.

CONCLUSIONS

Bornyl acetate shows analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.
