Abstract

Results of surgical treatment of an acute cholecystitis (ACH) in 114 elderly and senile patients with diabetes mellitus were analyzed. In all operated patients histological investigation revealed destructive forms of an ACH, mainly complicated. After the operation in 14 (12.3%) of patients complications occurred. Tactics of treatment was based mainly on securing of adequate correction of carbohydrate metabolism before, during and after performance of operation and also on early performance of cholecystectomy using laparoscopic method, permitting to reduce frequency of postoperative complications occurrence and to lower postoperative lethality.
