Dried flower of A. alliaceum when fed at 2% level in diet for 6 weeks to experimental rats rendered hypercholesterolemic by cholesterol feeding, exhibited blood cholesterol lowering effect. Cholesterol lowering efficacy of these garlic smelling flowers was similar to garlic oil fed at 0.002% level.
