The calcium antagonist verapamil was found to enhance synergistically the DNA (desoxyribonucleic acid) strand breakage activity of the radiomimetic antitumor agent bleomycin in vitro. The induction of single and double strand breaks in isolated DNA was investigated by agarose gel electrophoresis.
