The invention is directed to a composition and associated method for the treatment of musculoskeletal related disorders and diseases. In particular, the present invention provides a class of citrate compounds that can be used to for the treatment of diseases/disorders characterized by the degeneration of musculoskeletal tissues including menisci, bone, articular cartilage, and soft tissues. The present invention relates to combinations of imazalil, or a salt thereof, and silver compounds which provide an improved biocidal effect. More particularly, the present invention relates to compositions comprising a combination of imazalil, or a salt thereof, together with one or more silver salts selected from silver acetate, silver alginate, silver azide, silver citrate, silver lactate, silver nitrate, silver sulfate, silver chloride, silver thiocyanate, silver-sodium-hydrogen-zirconium phosphate, silver sulfadiazine, silver cyclohexanediacetic acid and disilver 2,5-dichloro-3,6-dihydroxy-2,5-cyclohexadiene-1,4-dione; in respective proportions to provide a synergistic biocidal effect. Other suitable silver components (II) are products that set silver free using technologies to make it gradually biologically available such as by ion exchange mechanisms such like using zirconium phosphate based ceramics as a reservoir, or silver provided in glass ceramics as reservoir or carrier, or silver provided with zeolites, silica gel or titanium dioxide as a reservoir or an inorganic derivative containing silver, incorporated into a plastic composition for the preparation of moulded, lacquered or painted products, such as an amino resin (e.g. urea-formaldehyde resin, melamine formaldehyde resin . . . ) or a thermoplastic (e.g. a polyester, polyethylene, polyacrylate, pvc . . . ), or provided as nano-silver particles typically with a particle size of 20-1000 nm. Compositions comprising these combinations are useful for the protection of any living or non-living material, such as crops, plants, fruits, seeds, objects made of wood, thatch or the like, biodegradable material and textiles against deterioration due to the action of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, yeasts, algae, and the like.

Combinations of pyrimethanil and silver compounds

Compositions in which aspirin is present in combination with alkaline compounds, especially those containing water of crystallization (hydrates), deteriorate on standing. This deterioration may take several forms: It can be a physical deterioration in which such aspirin compositions become completely unmanageable, wet, gummy, sticky masses; or chemical decomposition in which aspirin loses its molecular structure chiefly by losing the acetyl group. The latter is accompanied by formation of acetic acid, the mixture developing its characteristic acetic odor. In both cases, such compositions become entirely unsuitable for all practical commercial and medicinal purposes. Yet, when preparation of water-soluble aspirin compositions is desired, it is impossible to avoid the use of alkaline compounds. This is because the only known method of converting aspirin into soluble form is by means of reacting it with an alkaline compound to form the soluble salt of aspirin. Unexpectedly, it was discovered and is the substance of the present invention that there are two compounds both of which are alkaline and contain water of crystallization (hydrates), and which, in combination with aspirin, give soluble compositions of outstanding stability. These two compounds are sodium citrate (tri) dihydrate, and potassium citrate (tri) monohydrate.

Our invention is a mixture of carboxylic acids: citric acid, succinic acid, fumaric acid and malic acid, and any possible combinations thereof. This product is used orally or also intravenously, in the treatment of patients with chronic renal failure, hyperammonemia or human conditions having negative nitrogen balance. This product is beneficial in decreasing the serum values of urea and serum ammonium, while promoting by transamination of the oxalacetate formed via succinate, fumarate and malate, the biosynthesis of non-essential amino acids; by transamination of the alpha ketoglutarate formed via citrate, it generates glutamic acid and related amino acids such as glutamine. This treatment prevents, preserves and even improves kidney function. In other patients it delays deterioration of renal function and the urgent need for renal replacement therapy. In others, it is used as a supplemental renal replacement treatment to improve the patient's quality of life and improve laboratory parameters.
