The alkaloid extract from roots of naturally growing Convolvulus arvensis, purified by ion-exchange chromatography, showed significant inhibitory activity toward beta-glucosidase and alpha-galactosidase. The demonstrated occurrence of polyhydroxy-nortropane alkaloids, the calystegins, in C. arvensis
