The tobacco-specific nitrosamine, 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK) induces tumor formation in the liver, lung, nasal cavity, and pancreas of rats. Metabolic activation is required for the tumorigenicity of this compound. The involvement of cytochrome P450 enzymes in NNK
