Influence of thyroid and adrenal hormones on the testicular biochemical activities and their role in the mechanism of male gonadal function were scantily reported. The present study in the thyroidectomized and adrenalectomized animals revealed that thyroid deficiency caused decrease in acid phosphatase activities, increase in cholesterol and GOT activities, where as hypoadrenalism had to some extent opposite effects compared to intact controls. These findings point out that thyroid hormones are very important for and regulate the male reproduction by maintaining the gonadal biochemical homeostasis and adjuvating the action of gonadotrophins for steroidogenesis.
