It has been shown that conidia of Phyllosticta ampelicida require attachment to a substratum to initiate germination. Furthermore this attachment occurs only on hydrophobic surfaces. This study was initiated to ascertain the breadth of this phenomenon among other species of the genus Phyllosticta.
