Resumo
Based on the examination of 374 patients with bacterial meningoencephalitis, clinical forms (focal, general cerebral) and variants (progressing, pseudotumorous, protracted) of edema and swelling of the brain have been established. Incidence rate of their development was found to be dependent on etiology of the inflammatory process. Diagnostic value of neurologic syndromes in determination of edema and swelling of the brain as well as in assessment of gravity of the patients' status and likely outcome of the condition is outlined.
