TRIAL DESIGN:
Mono-centric, pragmatic, double-blinded, randomized clinical trial (RCT) with split-mouth design. The trial will have a one year of duration.
PRIMARY OUTCOME:
- Change in BoP: change in percentage of sites positive to bleeding on probing.
SECONDARY OUTCOMES:
- Change in Plaque Index
OUTCOME
1. Primary outcome measure: 3-month change in the number of sites with probing depth (PD) 5-9 mm and positive to bleeding upon probing (BoP). Sites characterized by PD 5-9 mm and BoP+ will be therefore identified as "experimental sites".
2. Secondary outcomes: 3-month changes in the
Peri-implantitis are defined as inflammatory diseases caused by bacterial biofilm around implant surface characterized by bleeding on probing, probing depth and eventually bone loss; if not successfully treated they may lead to implant loss. Based on the available parameters that have been reported

Peri-implant infections (mucositis and peri-implantitis) depict an increasing focus in dental practice and implantology. mean prevalence of mucositis is of 43% and periimplantitis of 22%. Consequences for the implant without successful treatment range from local reversible inflammation (mucositis)
The long term results and benefit of infection control in the treatment of periodontal disease have been well documented. According to a cause-related concept, the disruption of bacterial plaque biofilms can be defined as primary objective for the treatment of periodontitis.
In the past few years,
